CITY HUNTER and NANA BEAR (My favorite drama couple)

Dramaland becomes my sweet escape whenever I am physically, mentally and emotionally worn out joggling life's activities in the real world. It serves as my personal paradise where I can forget facing tough realities and indulge myself munching fluffy fantasies. An hour dose of a good and nutritious Asian drama can instantly pick me up no matter how terrible my day turns out. It may be exaggerated but at this point of my life, I can say that I can no longer live without this free and guiltless obsession. Just like breathing, watching Asian dramas already became a part of my body system that I have to do in order to survive this boring world of mine.

Here is an overview of my on-going Asian drama list. I compiled all the Asian dramas I've watched as a whole from beginning to end. I also included some small details and background information about the series, with my rating out of ten and some personal views.

-> Because there's a huge difference between entertainment and quality, I decided to apply Dramabeans' rating system. (Note : There are dramas that I enjoy blindly, even if the story is far from the awesome line.) I've included two ratings on a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best), the first number shows "how much I enjoy" the drama and the second one presents "how good I think it is" objectively.

- Three sincere tears and a second chance to live ; this drama will make you realize how valuable life is. The star-studded cast did a marvelous job portraying their tangled characters. The only thing that irks me is the ending! I would have given this a 10/10 only if she . . . Oops!

- If I'm going to rename this drama, I would call it "Good versus Bad," as literal as that. I fell in love with Jang Dong Geun's character and hated Kim So Yeon's role to death. This is my first Korean drama, the vehicle that brought me to an immaculate place called K-dramaland.

- Falling in love with the woman whom he should not love. This is the first ever drama of Korean Superstar Rain that I've watched. Revenge story is bitter and sweet. Forbidden love sure ends tragically.

- Good looks + Tons of Money + Power & Connection = A Man Called God. The on-screen chemistry of Song Il Gook and Han Chae Young is hot and captivating. Full of tricks and revelations. If you love revenge story, you shouldn't miss this!

- Bad twist. Bad conclusion. I can endure tragic endings but this pretentious dark series goes beyond my tolerance of tragic. Kim Nam Gil and Kim Jae Wook are the only good things I can remember after I watched this.

- A drama for all ages that deserves all the skyrocketed ratings. It's show how far people are willing to go just to achieve their dreams and greed. Get ready to witness a showdown of highly-skilled bakers competing not only for bread but also for love. Makjang series at its finest!

- Phenomenal, popular, romantic and funny! You're not a certified K-drama fan if you haven't watched this yet. I've seen all the Asian adaptations but this version is the greatest! A series that I will never ever forget through the years! I'm still screaming: "I love F44444444444444!!!"

- A nerve-wracking medical drama about neuro-surgeons who treat operation rooms as their battlefields. Though the title is "Brain", content-wise, it has more "heart". Shin Ha Kyun's leading performance is mind-blowing.

- Modern Cinderella story with a twist. Prepare tissues and get ready for hard-core drama and heartbreaking characters. The first four episodes were the best chapters, how I wish they didn't grow up! Just like in fairy tale, they live happily ever after.

- A masterpiece that torn my heart into pieces. The first Korean series I've watched even without subtitles and watched it again once the subtitles are out. Cliff-hanging episodes make me wait desperately for another week. A perfect combination of hot action and cool romance!

- Stealing exam papers just to accomplish good grades to get into a good college. A single episode is enough to be an eye-opener. The drama successfully reflects the appalling realities about the stern high standard of education set by the society in South Korea.

- A murky kick-ass mini-drama with tiny bits of cute romance. If you're up for gruesome fight scenes filled with action, blood and combat, it's the perfect drama for you. But make sure you're in legal age before you watch it because of some adult content.

- A record-breaking drama of 2004, it brought Park Shin Yang and Kim Jung Eun into the limelight. There is nothing unusual about the story but the undeniable chemistry of the Cinderella-inspired-heroine and the Mr. Darcy-hero successfully made this on the top.

- No homerun for this Baker King version 2.0. The anticipation vanished after 12 episodes of continuous hard-core "makjang". Why did they have to turn the baseball angst to absurd office competition? I still insist that Seo In Woo is the perfect catch for Yoon Jae In.

- Imagine the dating program "The Bachelor" with Korean touch. This series gave the reality show more drama and backdrop that brought back the flame of old lovers. Good-looking and well-suited couple mixed with not so common plot.

- I had high hopes but it all fell short. A lot of Geun2x fans will raise their eyebrows to me but I still have to say this : It's disappointingly boring! If not for the lovable cast, I wouldn't even bother to finish this. Sometimes, too much cuteness made me want to throw up.

- The recycled and draggy conflicts of the story in the later part ruined the exciting chemistry of the main couple. The first half of the drama is positively farcical but the writer's intention to elongate the series resulted to lack of creativeness that made the show a flop.

- No matter how slapstick the comedy turned out and no matter how ridiculously repetitive the couple played tug-of-war, this love story still deserved the title of 2008 Best Taiwanese Drama. The record-breaking rating of this show proves that it's popcorn worth to watch.

- Though this drama lacks one character's voice, the story shouts a resounding romance that brings nostalgia in your screen. The poignant memories of this heart-splitting series still linger in my head. It makes sign language so sweet and moving that you'll be inspired to learn it.
