Fashion King Introduces the Main Characters

THE FOUR LEADS OF THE FASHION KING

Upcoming SBS series Fashion King knows how to flare up the platform. Few weeks before it finally sets foot in the drama runway, character posters are already out igniting the anticipation of excited fans like me. I am floored to see all the latest cast developments continuously stealing the center stage of my corner (so expect more Fashion King updates ahead!). I just hope this drama will prove that it deserves all the hot ravings I'm giving right now (unlike the ill-fated and disappointing Man of Honor. Meh!).

This week, Fashion King has released the official character profiles giving us some backdrop information about the four main leads. Black and white (or should I say gray) are the dominant colors of the posters exuding a chic, mysterious yet youthful appeal. Because this is a fashion series, I'm counting much on the over-all look of the main cast that involves outfit, hairstyle and accessories. I'm not a fashion expert but I can say that they totally rock the presentaion package of the characters especially Yoo Ah In's notable hair transformation.

YOO AH IN as KANG YOUNG GUL

Speaking of our underdog hero, Yoo Ah In (Sungkyunkwan Scandal) will play the role of happy-go-lucky Kang Young Gul who's been living his life for more than 20 years without a definite dream or goal. If there's such a thing as "Bad Boy Academy," Ah In is definitely one of the alumni who graduated with flying colors because of his convincing portrayal. Thanks to his undeniable charm, he effortlessly gives-off an irresistible bad boy appeal.

The expression on his face in the picture above totally fits the description about his character, he looks naughty but cool. Behind the tough mask Young Gul is wearing is a man who actually let other people trample his dream his entire life. He is a kind guy who doesn't want to cause any trouble to block anyone's path. In a world where he was told that having a vision for life was foolish, he meets Lee Ga Young, the woman who inspires him to reach his dreams with all his might.

SHIN SE KYUNG as LEE GA YOUNG

Behind every man's success is a woman and in Kang Young Gul's case, she is not only great but fashionable too. Gorgeous young actress Shin Se Kyung (Deep Rooted Tree) will give life to the aspiring fashion designer Lee Ga Young, who never gives up her dream of following the footsteps of her mother. Life is giving her a hard time but she still believes that no matter how stormy the road to success is, a sunny day is always waiting ahead. In her journey to the world of fashion, she meets Kang Young Gul who shares the same aspirations with her and the two of them help each other out to achieve their dreams together.

It's about time for Shin Se Kyung to establish her name in the leading lady category. Fashion King is going to be her first huge role in the small screen as she plays Yoo Ah In's ladylove and I know that she will be fabulous with him. She is not only stunningly beautiful but talented too.

LEE JE HOON as JUNG JAE HYUK

I can't believe that I would be so excited for Lee Je Hoon (Bleak Night, The Front Line) as much as I do for Yoo Ah In. The equal treatment and attention he is garnering from me has something to do with his brilliant performances in the big screen. This newbie actor has a top-caliber acting talent that can make people voluntarily participate in a standing ovation for him and I'm not exaggerating things here (watch his movies and you'll get what I mean).

In the upcoming Fashion King, I am so thrilled to see him portray the rich and capable Jung Jae Hyuk who is going to be the third-wheel in the Young Gul-Ga Young romance. Fame and fortune ; his role got everything life has to offer. He has always had it all, and never felt like he was missing anything in life until he meets a girl that gives him something to live for. Oh boy, I am all-out Yoo Ah In-Shin Se Kyung ship here, but I can't change the fact that Lee Je Hoon has the power to beat a chord in my heart. I just wish Jae Hyuk's ill-fated one-sided-love for Ga Young will not be really tragic because if it does, a part of my heart will surely be broken for him.

KWON YURI as CHOI ANNA

SNSD's Yuri is the only one who is not a certified actor in the line-up of the main leads but that doesn't make her an outcast of the group. She shines in the first poster above along with her co-stars with her fierce but elegant stare. Kwon Yuri is ready to breathe life to the perfectly polished Choi Anna who is living a glamorous life. Externally, she is wearing a strong and confident personality to survive her demanding career and painful life but that doesn't make her heart as hard as stone. Whether it is in fashion or love, Anna is determined to claim the top spot. Years had already passed but she is still longing for the man who made her world colorful and bright. Things will be more complicated and agonizing for her when she learns that the only man (Jung Jae Hyuk) she loves has already set his eyes at Lee Ga Young.

The only major issue I'm concern about Yuri is not her acting debut but her character's development in the plot. I hope and pray that she wouldn't turn out as a desperate b**** ex-girlfriend who is out to ruin everything her rival has. I want her damaged soul to be one of the receiving ends of my sympathy though she is already showing the antagonist-vibe in the making. Please don't make her a miserable girl who only exists to make other people suffer.


So, there you have it, the Fashion King's four primary leads who are set to work together on the story's potential love square. This drama premieres on March 12, to follow the vacated spot of History of The Salaryman on its timeslot.
